shebaduhkitty: classroom art supply organization

I just spent the morning unpacking and organizing tempra paint and construction paper.

I have a firm belief that all of the SAME supply should be in the SAME place. So that way when you go to order and you think you are out of yellow tempra so you order 2 more boxes, but you forgot that you had 5 boxes out in the other storage closet so now you have enough to last longer than the paint will stay liquid. (this is what must have happened to the person before me, becasue there are 3 different places I have found paper and paint stroes and then more ordered.) I guess on the plus side, I have a lot of storage places and a lot of paint and paper. Need MORE project ideas for paint and paper!

The supplies in this room are SO OLD in some cases that the tempra is rock hard and the construction paper is faded and crumbling. And I haven't even gotten to any other catagory of stuff!

Charger came with me and kept me company. I met the custodians (Shirley, Richard and Marty) and filled all three of my huge garbage cans. I hardly made a dent in the organizing that needs to be done there. Back for more tomorrow.

While cleaning I found a stack of books and curriculum resources that I am going to sell (cheap) mostly for Middle Grades English classes plus other 2nd grade resources. I need to trade them for art curriculum stuff, so I need both the $$ and the bookshelf space. Check my personal journal later today for details.

I have until Sept 8th! before school starts with the kids, so I do have lots of time to get ready!

I'm also in an old building... mid-60s. Even better... experimental architecture. The building is several octagons pieced together, with most rooms having NO WINDOWS. All but two, in fact. The office and the art room. One of my lovlies goes nuts, I'm SOL getting out of there!
